Daft Punkeys

Next time you're bored at home or work, remember that YOU too can be like Kanye & do an instant collab with Daft Punk from the comfort of your own home or cubicle! We found this fun lil push-a-key-console by NAJLE.com and now we can officially say that Kinky Notti did a collaboration with Daft Punk on "Nasty Nasty" the remix :D

BONUS POINTS. We found it even more fun typing out lame phrases like:
A + K I S S + I S + J U S + A + K I S S
Q U I K I E + F U K
Uh oh... did we just start something? Well then, show us what you got!

GO BABY

It's a proud day for Chicagoans in 09... home to the first black President in United State's history ((OBAMA)) & a host of Superstar heroes like Kanye West, Common, Lupe Fiasco and our big Oscar- and Golden Globe-winner, Jennifer Hudson. Plus let's not forget the strong possibility that Chicago will be hosting the 2016 Olympics... The world's spotlight is on Chicago right now and we're really starting to feel the energy build, creating a movement amongst the Chicago music artists who live here.

Summer '09 promises to be the takeover for Kink Not. After a couple of years of member changes, lining up ducks in rows and bangin out a bunch of hot new tracks... Kinky Notti is moving FORWARD FAST, so be on the look-out for our fresh release campaign b/c we're just about ready to pull trigger! Music, art, fashion, freedom and of course... Paaaarrrrtaaay's! Succumb...it's pretty much a wrap. Get 2 Free Downloads right here! Nasty Nasty & Beneath the Deck

This band was ridic the first time we saw them rockin at the One Night Stand event. We bought our very own Hey Champ CD before leaving, and yes- it's still gettin bumped in the Kinky Notti whip. Hey Champ's sound is a hot splash of that electro pop shit that makes us 80s kids feel 7 again. We knew it wouldn't be too long before we heard bout them getting signed... and sure enough it was announced that they're f*cking with Lupe on 1st &15th.

We've known Hollywood since Nigel... since he was the "b-boy with the fresh break-moves" days. We first saw him puttin all hype men to shame, rockin as sidekick with Mic Terror. Now Hollywood Holt's blowing up the college scene, touring & going from Adult Swim to mtvU... pickin up uber exposure along the way. We think we might havta cop that hot new single from iTunes right now & you should too!

Since Million Dollar Mano's DJ years, we've watched him continue to increasingly command rooms time & time again. Now we're getting his reinvention as the producer of edgy rock, electro joints, along with Drea his partner in crime. Our first encounter with them was on that same One Night Stand set with Hey Champ. It was love at first hear and we can't wait to check out their new project when it drops.

Check a few of our previous blog posts & you'll know that C4 are the muffinking homies & by far our favorite bearded rapper & DJ combo. C4 is dope for so many reasons... not only do you get Floydthefourth: the monster on beats & emcee, but you get DJ C.y.Not on the cuts... plus their emblem looks sick chromed-out on tshirts. They promised us their first copy of Garage Sale, the LP coming soon :P

Although she's the newby on the yard, Nikki Lynette is going hard with her new single "Now That I'm Fine" ((now spinning on B96)). We received a formal introduction to the stage presense of Nikki Lynette recently at Dark Room & now only expect to hear big things about this hot & super sweet chica...
Get 2 FREE Downloads here! Now That I'm Fine & Need a Man

Last but not least on our list is our muffoccur, Shala. He's got flows and bangin beats to go along with em. Who knows what goes on in the mind of the former Mr. Esquire but its never failed over the years. Get ready for a monster....

Blogs we dig

So many blogs... it's hard to keep up! Who doesn't have a blog these days? When we created this blog, we wanted it to be more of a tool for us to measure the successes, trials, tribulations and overall growth of the group, Kinky Notti. But we're not gonna lie-- it's way harder than it looks to keep posts current when you're busy as hell tryna make moves day in and day out!

So we commend those muffoccurs out there in cyberspace dedicated to providing the worldwide web with fresh, consistent & relevant posts each day on their blogs. Here are a few of our fave peeps doing it big on the blog tip... ones u should def check out once u leave here, Kink Not??

blindiforthekids.com
Every time we visit Blind-I we find free, new, hot shit to add to our playlist. They also keep a bunch of videos and many, many, many other cool tidbits in their repertoire. No wonder Kanye lists Blind-I on his blog as one of his faves.

sevenspoon.com
Into the mind of Shala Esquire ((Chicago's own multi-media producer, musician and artist)) or shall we say into the mind of Seven, Shala's amusing cartoon creation... Seven Spoon is like two blogs in one. We love Shala's video finds, interviews and without a doubt, Seven's tell-it-like-it-is commentaries.

scholarreport.com
This blog is like the baby of the two before-mentioned blogs, lol... but we dig it just the same. Who doesn't love watching hot new videos & interviews, copping hot aparel, or checking out new Twitter downloads? Word to Ivy League doing it big on MTV, btw :D

Grammy Dinner

Now doesn’t that look beautiful sitting there on the mantle?
That’s called foreshadowing for all of you non-literary muff-occurs

First off-- this is a pre-point-&-shoot-purchase post...so naw, we ain't got no damn pictures other than the souvenir book! But anyway, jumping ahead to October, we got an invitation to attend the Chicago chapter of the Recording Academy Honors Dinner from our G.O.O.D. friend John Monopoly ((his life is the game)). He blessed Kink Not with seats right next to Ye's table ((Ye = Kanye, in case ur a blockhead)). It was set up perfect, right? Kink Not in the spot, demo in the pock, looking hot, doin' it ta def non stop!

It was like we could see the light at the end of the tunnel

...OK enough shots of the damn book cover! Needless to say, we felt like we were doing it real big when we sat down in our finest linens to a spread of culinary excellence. The dope thing about the Grammy Dinner is that it honors cats who are really doing their thing in Chicago, like my man Joe Shanahan.

If you call yourself a music artist in Chicago and you
ain’t rocked at one of Shanahan's spots, you ain’t really doing it, B! Double Door was where Kinky Notti has rocked consistently ((we killed that Res show, btw...big ups to our peeps at Swank Society for the show booking))

Respect goes out to our man, Joe Shanahan

Anyway, you know who is wild deez? Dude from Cheap Trick, Rick Nielson . Who cares about what he said exactly that night...he had us dying just based off his stee alone. Kanye’s speech was mad inspiring. There were points in his speech where we could see how passionate he was about his craft...and we could truly relate.

We all know Ye isn't afraid of shouting out his accomplishments for the world to hear! His rationale was "why wouldn't I say that I'm hot if I know I'm hot right now?...That's like it being somebody's birthday, but they don't let anybody know...but instead waiting til the next day to say 'it was my birthday yesterday'...so why didn't you tell anybody, muff-occur??" It was the perfect analogy to us.

Dude is crazy...but doing pretty good as far as geniuses go.

The whole time we were there, we were on this high, like “this is where we should be”. We were sitting there as Plain White T’s and Flosstradamus both commanded the stage. Kink Not could have been there with them. Oh well, maybe next time. As blurry as the evening was, the one thing we'll never forget was seeing the lovely, Dr. Donda West. The event was ending and we were walking over to the Ye table to say what up to Don C and the rest of the entourage.

As we were walking up,
Donda West gave us this look like she recognized us, but not the same way she would recognize a former student. It was more like she recognized our purpose for being there and acknowledged that we should've been there; like she knew where we were going. She smiled as we approached. It was a warm and genuine smile. It made us want to get all our moms together for lunch so they could all talk about how proud there were of their children.

We had never met her before so as we spoke, we felt the urge to reach out and hug her...but we didn't know if that would have been appropriate. Although her smile spoke that she would have accepted the embrace of strangers, it was an awkward moment in time. It was one of those moments that seems so much longer when you think back on it...everything gets slow enough for you to say, “Damn, I shoulda done this, or I shoulda done that". Hindsight really is 20/20…regret and mistake-free. Instead of us getting geeked at Kanye's performance on stage, maybe we should've been inappropriate. Maybe we should've hugged Donda West.

One love to our fellow Chicagoan, Kanye West
